Please be in prayer for PTI's training impact in the great nation of Nicaragua, as training will begin this week on a whole new group of pastors.

One of our Great Commission Training Partners—Dick Powers of Faith Baptist Church, TN—has been involved in missionary work in Nicaragua for 6 years. He has connections with the Baptist Seminary and churches in both Managua and León.

In March, he began integrating the PTI training with Pastor Erwin Osorio of Primera Iglesia Bautista de León serving as our indigenous facilitator. Primera Iglesia Bautista de León is the third oldest evangelical church in Nicaragua, and we are believing that out of this historical beacon of faith and hope, God will raise up leaders throughout Nicaragua, equipped and mobilized to fulfill the Great Commission.

The pastor training in conducted under the auspices of the Baptist Seminary and presently has 20 pastors participating. They faithfully meet each week for the lesson and discussion, and will finish the course by fall. Upon completion, they will be awarded a certificate through the seminary.

Pastor Guadalupe Gomez has already started a course in another area of Managua and we are carrying materials to him on this trip. Lupe is Executive Director of the Nicaraguan Baptist Convention and met with David Rogers and David Ripley when they were in Costa Rica recently.

Pastor Erwin will also be training another pastor in a nearby city who will then start training in his area. Pastor Pablo Garcia of Iglesia Bautista Betel in Managua, one of the most dynamic and fastest growing churches in Nicaragua, will also be starting a course in Managua.

Dick observes, "The response to the course has been fantastic and will be invaluable to pastors whose training has been so limited. Most pastors in Nicaragua begin pastoring before they receive any formal training... We hope the wisdom of Dr. Rogers will saturate the evangelical pastorate in Nicaragua."
