News 11.16.2011 Exploring Opportunities in Jamaica
Over the years, Jamaica has been a popular get-away for many trying to escape the hustle and bustle of life and for good reason! The dramatic views coupled with the laid back nature of the Jamaican natives make for a much needed break from reality. Unfortunately for the locals, in many cases the beauty of their country does not out way the strife it accompanies. It is for this reason that at the beginning of November a representative from the Pastor Training Institute spent a week in the back country of Jamaica where tourism is scarce. Here the locals experience poverty due to high levels of unemployment.
In the midst of such trying times, the joy and worship spirit is evident in the music-celebration of their worship experience. The Jamaican schools are totally open for full gospel presentation. Nevertheless, the reality is that the majority of church congregations in Jamaica are in desperate need of organization and leadership, which is precisely what PTI hopes to bring to the country through Adrian Rogers’ teaching materials. During PTI's time there, the ministry introduced the What Every Pastor Ought To Know curriculum to the a group of part time pastors and received rave reviews afterward! So much so that the Pastor Training Institute has been invited to come back to facilitate a conference for a larger group in 2012.
